Description

The forges of Hell have churned out weapons of war for uncounted millennia. As mortals advanced in technological ingenuity, the devils of Hell kept pace, and Hell can now engineer starships at least as good as those produced by the Pact Worlds. The most ubiquitous starships manufactured in Hell are known as the Hellforged line, as there have been hellforged knives and axes since primitive people first fashioned blades to use against one another. Although Hellforged starships appear to be crafted from black iron plates bolted together for brutal functionality, they boast all the defenses of modern starships and maintain an atmosphere suitable for most mortals, even if the stink of brimstone perpetually tinges the air.
The Soulscourger model bristles with weapons and is equipped with a standard Helldrive, allowing for quick travel across the galaxy by passing briefly through Hell. The most sinister component of a Soulscourger’s construction has nothing to do with its armaments or outward appearance. Instead, the damned souls wailing in a pentagram-scribed prison functions as the ship’s power core. These souls are locked in a perpetual torment that powers all the Soulscourger’s functions with their suffering. Indeed, to get superior results, the ship’s engineers spend as much time tormenting these bound souls as they do performing actual engineering tasks.

Special Abilities

Soulscourger Crimson The Hellforged Soulscourger uses a power core fueled by the suffering of mortal souls that provides 200 PCU.

Description

Built for science and evasion rather than combat, Curiosity serves as the mobile laboratory and home of the Wise family. Researchers and explorers with diverse specializations and interests, the Wises custom-built Curiosity to contain everything they need while staying on the move. The result is an amazingly capable science vessel as unique as the family who owns it.
Curiosity was repurposed from a battered old ATech model auctioned off for a low price. The capable Wises made it a family project, working over many months to restore and modify it without altering the outer hull. It’s hard to tell at a glance that the rusty, dinged old ship contains cutting-edge scientific bays with the latest equipment. This appearance is partly by design, as pirates are less likely to target a flying clunker, and the Wises try to avoid violence. Plus, forgoing upgrades to the exterior and crew quarters allowed the family to install tech features, elite sensors, and souped-up engines. In a jam, the Wises rely on Curiosity’s superior scanning capabilities, speedy thrusters, and—if necessary—trusty EMP cannon to avoid a fight. The starship’s gyrolaser is for defensive purposes only.
A life of full-time adventure and investigation isn’t for everyone, but for the younger Wises, it’s the only lifestyle they’ve ever known. The Wise family and their occasional guests sleep in bunks and share a few basic amenities, such as a camp kitchen, shower facilities, and toilets. Since the Wises spend a lot of their time exploring new worlds and gathering specimens, the cramped quarters suit them just fine. They typically spend long periods of space travel tinkering in the lab or workshop, or playing board games together and discussing hypotheses during off-hours.

Description

The Primorata is a unique vessel created in the Drift Crash when a conventional starship, the Marata, attempted to enter the Drift while the Primordial—a pirate vessel grappled to it and equipped with chaos sails (Starship Operations Manual 9)—attempted to enter the Maelstrom. Both vessels merged into a single, unusual starship with features from both vessels, plus some emergent details.
The combined vessel’s four decks include an observation lounge (deck 1) decorated with planar fragments from Nirvana, the Maelstrom, and the Plane of Water that were ejected into the ship by the Drift Crash. Its two-story bridge (decks 2 and 3) and a crew lounge on the lowest deck (deck 4) share excellent views through an expansive front window of transparent aluminum. Most of the ship’s lower two decks are devoted to crew and guest quarters, with a central atrium made possible by a catwalk on deck 3.
The most unusual feature of the Primorata, however, is its plane-breaking Signal Chaos Engine, a unique artifact. Housed in engineering on deck 2, the Signal Chaos Engine sends the Primorata hurtling through time and space with every use. When it does, however, the Primorata leaves a wake that other nearby starships can use to follow the vessel wherever it goes.

Special Abilities

Additional Expansion Bay Due to the unusual circumstances of its creation, the Primorata has one more expansion bay than is normal for an explorer frame.
Signal Chaos Engine The Signal Chaos Engine is an artifact created by the unexpected and magical synthesis of a Drift engine with chaos sails. Activating the Signal Chaos Engine requires 1 minute, during which time the ship can use its conventional thrusters. Once activated, the Signal Chaos Engine causes the Primorata to travel randomly through the multiverse for 1d6 minutes before arriving at an unpredictable location somewhere in space and time. The Signal Chaos Engine leaves a wake, which nearby ships can follow. It uses no PCU, costs no BP, and replaces a starship’s Drift engine. The Signal Chaos Engine is destroyed if it ever returns to the location and moment during the Drift Crash when it was created.
